About Hyland Solutions

Mariann Hyland is a mediator, leadership coach, and consultant who supports organizations to heal conflict, cultivate leadership, and empower transformation. Growing up biracial in rural Oregon, she quickly understood the importance of bridging divides. This led to her commitment to fostering inclusive communities and organizations.

Driven by values of justice and belonging, Mariann earned a BS and a JD from the University of Oregon. As a labor and employment lawyer, she managed civil rights compliance and served as in-house legal counsel. As an attorney and mediator, Mariann helped transform conflict into sustainable, win-win solutions.

Also, for 24 years, Mariann led transformation at complex non-profit, governmental, educational, and health care organizations. Her leadership coaching and consulting is built on her experience in positions including Director of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity, Assistant Vice Provost in Academic Affairs, and Vice President of People and Culture. With her direct experience, Mariann can help you build a resilient, inclusive culture that thrives during uncertain times.

Increasingly concerned about stress, burnout, and trauma in the workplace, Mariann earned an MSW from Portland State University and gained expertise in the neurobiology of stress, trauma-informed care, and psychological safety. A lifelong learner, Mariann recently completed training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), a strength-based model that addresses concerns, emotions, and motivations that individuals bring to the workplace. Mariann’s approach is based on scientific research alongside ancient wisdom and contemplative practices.

With each new area of expertise, Mariann expanded her services to meet the complex needs of organizations during turbulent times. After launching Hyland Solutions, she invited consultants with matching values and complementary skills to join the team.
